Past The Old Tower

from Someone Else's Journey by Francis Roberts

/

about

This track is inspired by the analog (or analog-style) sequences of Old Tower's "Sorcerer's Dream". I heard it in the background on a Spotify playlist and was immediately drawn to the sound of the traditional sequencer, which seems to be quite rare in the genre. I felt something like camaraderie when I heard the song, because I've used an analog sequencer for a track I feel is in a similar genre: francisroberts.bandcamp.com/track/restless-weather-syndrome

In this track, however, I attempted to treat the MIDI sequence as I would treat a hardware sequencer, beginning with a sequence and transposing all notes the same amount, and at the end, removing one step at a time instead of choosing something that might be more traditionally musical.
